16 September 1958, Jennifer Tilly was born in Los Angeles in extremely substandard conditions. Her mother was an unsuccessful teacher and actor, was a salesperson for automobiles while her father was an auto salesman. Jennifer is the youngest of the family of four, was often at her mother's theater performance and was awestruck. Jennifer's divorce was finalized when she turned five. Jennifer spent most of her early years living in British Columbia after her mom moved there along with the other four children. Jennifer never was a artist, even though she was a talented artist in her youth. When she was in Canada she was the victim of bullying often. Her interest in theater diminished during her high school years, and as a result she was a regular participant in theater in addition to help from her mother. The influence of her mother was to inspire all the children in the family to develop a passion for and interest for performing arts. Then, she started to act.
